According to a new decree signed on November 30, the cost of a visa to enter Egypt has increased to $45. The changes took effect on December 1, as reported by the TASS news agency. Previously, the visa fee was $25.
The initiative for the bill to raise the fees came from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which received parliamentary approval on November 2. However, this measure has sparked mixed reactions in the country. On November 11, the Federation of Chambers of Tourism appealed to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy, requesting a review of the decision to raise prices. Tourism experts expressed concerns that the increase in visa costs could negatively impact Egypt's competitiveness in the international tourism market.
