Daniyar Amangeldiev, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, during his working visit to Budapest.
During this dialogue, representatives from both sides assessed the results of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian strategic partnership for the current year and discussed plans to strengthen and expand cooperation in 2026.
The delegations noted that interaction this year has been at a high level, highlighting several key events, such as the meeting of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov with the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán in May, as well as discussions in September and October, including meetings of the strategic council and the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
Both politicians expressed satisfaction with the work of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, noting its significance as one of the main mechanisms for implementing bilateral projects in various fields of mutual interest.
Peter Szijjártó confirmed the readiness to support Hungarian companies operating in Kyrgyzstan by increasing the Fund's capital to $45 million.
The parties also emphasized the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including the annual recruitment of up to 200 students from Kyrgyzstan for studies at Hungarian universities under the Stipendium Hungaricum program.
Discussion of issues related to interaction within the European Union, including those concerning sanctions policy, became an important part of the negotiations.
Daniyar Amangeldiev and Peter Szijjártó agreed that both countries adhere to a peaceful approach to resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Both sides oppose any attempts to further escalate the conflict.
In this regard, they confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation with EU member states on sanction issues.
