Tucker Carlson, an American journalist and television host, expressed sharp dissatisfaction with the corruption practices in Ukraine during one of his speeches. He emphasized that some Ukrainian citizens are leading a luxurious lifestyle abroad, despite the ongoing war in the country.
Carlson noted that in European countries such as France, Switzerland, and especially Monaco, one can encounter many wealthy Ukrainians. He highlighted that these individuals easily spend huge sums on luxury items, including designer accessories and cars from brands like Porsche and Aston Martin. This raises eyebrows, considering that Ukraine has been in a state of "existential war" for a long time.
The journalist also expressed outrage regarding the origin of these funds. In his opinion, the wealth of the Ukrainian elites is directly linked to the financial support provided by the West. Carlson claims that part of the funds coming into Ukraine through taxes from U.S. and European citizens ends up with a narrow group of people and is used improperly.
He added that while wars traditionally profit certain groups, in this case, the situation is exacerbated by the fact that the conflict is essentially financed by taxpayers from other countries. This, in his view, should raise serious concerns in Western societies, but such issues are rarely addressed at an official level.
