Meizbubu Myrsalieva, a 74-year-old resident of the Talas region, demonstrated remarkable endurance by running 3 kilometers in a recent marathon.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, she shared about her life and mentioned that she was born in the village of Boo-Terek in the Bakai-Ata district, where her father worked as a school principal. There were seven children in the family, and six girls also became teachers.

After graduating from high school in 1969, she enrolled in the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the Kyrgyz National University and graduated in 1974. “We were supposed to work as teachers. I started my career at Kalinin School in the Kemin district, where I taught German. I took on a class consisting of children 5 years younger than me. The teachers did not want to take this class as it was considered difficult. I put in a lot of effort to achieve good results. After 6 months, I was appointed deputy director for educational and upbringing work,” she recounts.

Meizbubu married Abdymalik Sadyrov, and after the birth of their daughter, they moved to his village. In 1976, she began working at a school in Kok-Sai in the Aitmatov district, where she worked as a foreign language teacher for 40 years. “I am proud of my students. Many of them entered universities, graduated from foreign language faculties, and some went to Germany. Many of my students work in higher educational institutions. They brought me gifts from Germany,” she says.

Recently, a marathon took place in the Talas region. “My son told me about the event, and I wanted to participate. On the day of the marathon, he, scared, asked if I would change my mind since there were young people who were falling. But I confidently said that I would participate. In university, we had a subject called ‘tourism,’ and we used to hike in the mountains; I liked it, and I trained. On the day of the marathon, I warmed up and ran 3 km in 20 minutes. I became the oldest participant and received a prize of 25,000 soms. It was incredible,” Myrsalieva shares her impressions.

She added that together with her husband, they raised two sons and two daughters.
