In the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan, the city of Osh, there is a proposal to name one of the streets after Bayaman Erkinbaev, who previously held the position of deputy in the Jogorku Kenesh. The initiative was announced by Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev during his recent tour of the city. He noted that the issue of commemorating the memory of the former deputy will be considered in accordance with established procedures. There is also a possibility of erecting a monument in his honor.
Bayaman Erkinbaev was elected to parliament three times — in 1995, 2000, and 2005, and he actively participated in the public life of the republic. He became the founder of the International Federation of Wrestling "Alysh" and headed the charitable foundation "Palvan." His name became known due to the events of March 2005, when Erkinbaev's supporters, including his sports trainees, actively participated in protests both in the southern part of the country and in the capital.
Unfortunately, in September 2005, Bayaman Erkinbaev tragically died in Bishkek. His death caused a wide resonance, and various versions of the reasons were discussed, including criminal and business interests, as well as political motives.
It is worth noting that in February 2025, the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, reported the return of 12.5 hectares of land in the Tajik city of Proletarsk to Kyrgyzstan. According to him, this plot previously belonged to the Kyrgyz organization "Selkhozkhimia," then passed to Bayaman Erkinbaev and was sold. As a result of legal proceedings, the land was returned to the ownership of Kyrgyzstan.
