The state has become stronger: Imankulov on the fight against corruption, defense, and the budget

Former State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan Marat Imankulov shared his views on the achievements of the current government in a recent interview with Birinchi Radio, discussing significant changes in the areas of security, economy, and governance.
He noted that in recent years, public discussions have actively addressed the results of the government's work. Imankulov himself carefully analyzed analytical reports that summarize the work done during this period. According to him, over the past five years, a volume of tasks has been accomplished that was not realized in the previous ten years.
Particular attention in the conversation was given to the issue of "Kumtor." The former state secretary emphasized that the process of nationalizing the mine and returning it under full state control turned out to be extremely complex and required significant effort and political will. He also highlighted successes in the fight against corruption and the strengthening of border protection measures.
Discussing the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, Imankulov recalled tense negotiations and conflicts, including two major incidents in the Batken region. In connection with the events of April 2021, the president invited him to work in the Security Council, relying on his experience in crisis situations.
The interview also touched on the topic of combating organized crime, where Imankulov noted that the state is demonstrating results in this area. Significant changes have also occurred in the defense sector: weaponry and heavy equipment have been updated, and new aircraft have been acquired, which are now used to ensure the country's security.
He reminded that previously the state was unable to make such large-scale expenditures due to low budget collection and high levels of corruption, when billions of soms did not reach the treasury. Currently, he stated, the situation has radically changed: increased budget revenues have allowed for higher salaries and pensions, as well as strengthening the material and technical base of state institutions, especially law enforcement agencies.

Imankulov concluded his speech by emphasizing that he participated in most of these processes and has been working in the president's team for over four years. He noted that there is still much work ahead, and in the new year, the authorities plan to continue implementing major reforms and projects.
