In an interview with Nomad TV, Lieutenant General and national security veteran Tashtemir Aitbaev discussed changes in the work of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) in the modern context. He noted that the committee's active actions have been a response to objective changes in the political and economic situation, as well as in the social sphere of the country.
In his opinion, the SCNS is currently addressing tasks that were previously not part of its responsibilities due to a lack of political will and systemic support.
Speaking about the fight against corruption and organized crime, Aitbaev emphasized that these aspects were not a priority for the special service; however, with the growth of criminalization and illegal privatization, they have become a priority. He pointed out that in the past, a significant amount of land, social facilities, and strategic assets were removed from state ownership, and corruption schemes became systemic.
According to Aitbaev, thanks to the decisive position of the SCNS leadership and the support of President Sadyr Japarov, it has been possible to return vast amounts of property and finances to the state treasury, estimated in billions of soms, and the influence of organized criminal groups has significantly decreased. He added that the effectiveness of the committee's work should be measured by specific results, rather than just by dividing powers among various agencies.
Separately, the general noted the merits of the SCNS Chairman Kamchybek Tashiev, highlighting his high work ethic, principled stance, and ability to see things through to the end. According to him, these qualities have contributed to strengthening the personnel and institutional potential of the special service, including the establishment of a modern academy that will help attract a new generation of specialists in the future.
