A Filipina prayed for four years to a Shrek figurine, mistaking it for Buddha

A Filipina living in Manila regularly offered prayers and lit incense in front of a green figurine that she believed was a statue of Buddha for four years. This was reported by SCMP.

It all started when the woman bought a small green figurine with a friendly face and a large belly from a local store. Convinced that it was an image of Buddha, she placed it on her home altar and prayed every day, asking for blessings.

However, one day when a friend visited her, he noticed that the shape of the figurine did not match the usual depictions of Buddha. Upon closer inspection, he realized that it was none other than Shrek, made with a 3D printer and styled to resemble Buddha, as the character was dressed in a robe resembling a monk's.

At first, the woman was shocked by the revelation, but soon they both laughed about the situation. She noted that the shape of the figurine didn't matter, as the sincerity of her prayers and good intentions were more important. The Filipina added that she had no intention of parting with her "talisman" and would continue to pray in front of her "green Buddha."

This case is reminiscent of an incident that occurred last June in Premlok Park in Pune, India, when water unexpectedly began to flow from the trunk of a royal bougainvillea.

Locals took this as a divine miracle and began to flock to the site to pay their respects.

However, it later turned out that the "holy water" was actually the result of a damaged underground pipe, allowing water to seep through the hollow trunk of the tree.
