- The parliamentary group "Ala-Too" held a meeting on January 16, where they discussed the current state of the garment industry, employment, and the economy.

Representatives from the garment sector and government structures participated in the discussion.

The meeting participants spoke about the difficulties they face when working with the Wildberries marketplace, as well as issues related to access to the Russian market. They emphasized the need for market diversification and the lack of a laboratory base for certification, which complicates entry into European markets. It was also noted that more than 3,000 garment workshops have closed, leaving thousands of people unemployed. In this regard, industry representatives appealed to the government for support and called for assistance to domestic producers.

During the discussion, Deputy Jumabek Salymbekov asked the Minister of Economy and Commerce about the number of closed garment enterprises. He highlighted the reduction in production volumes and declining competitiveness. "What steps is the Ministry of Economy and Commerce taking to address these issues?" he asked, reminding about Kyrgyzstan's membership in the EAEU.

Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov reported that work is currently underway to interact with the Wildberries marketplace.

Deputy Seyidbek Atambaev raised the issue of attracting foreign specialists from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan to the garment industry. Deputy Talaybek Masabirov suggested considering the possibility of creating a logistics center and providing preferential loans for garment enterprises. The Minister of Economy stated that a Wildberries logistics center is planned to be built and opened by 2028. Deputy Bolotbek Borbiev emphasized the importance of bringing garment production out of the "shadow" economy. Deputy Cholpon Esenamanova raised questions regarding the rules for importing into Russia, product labeling, and VAT. Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova stressed the need for comprehensive work on market diversification for domestic products. Deputy Azamzhan Jalilov noted that Kyrgyzstan should make the most of the economic opportunities within its EAEU membership. Deputy Azamat Isyrailov added that conditions must be created for the development of domestic producers and to address issues of transport logistics and sales.

As a result of the meeting, the parliamentary group "Ala-Too" provided a number of recommendations to the Cabinet of Ministers, including issues related to preferential lending and market diversification.
