In the picturesque mountains of the rural district Birlik in the Kadamjai region lies a village called Eshme, as reported by a Turmush correspondent.

According to local residents, this village is one of the ancient abodes of the first people.

The village of Eshme is located at the foot of the mountains, and its name comes from the abundance of underground waters and springs that are easily found on the surface.

Historian Zhyldyz Su laymanova stated that traces and bones belonging to ancient people have been found in this area.

“The village of Eshme likely got its name due to the presence of numerous springs. Notable ones include Iyri bulak, Tal bulak, Semiz bulak, Kum bulak, Kurban bulak, and Aydar bulak,” she added.

Semiz bulak is round and rich in water, while Kum bulak combines water with sand. Kurban bulak, located near the shrine, is considered sacred. The name Aydar bulak may be related to the contribution of a person named Aydar in its establishment.

The word “eshme” translates to “to come to the surface” and indicates the presence of many sources that naturally emerge on the surface.

Remains and traces have been found in the territory of the village of Eshme, highlighting that ancient people inhabited this area. The Sel cave, located in this region, also indicates that people lived here during the Stone Age. Some researchers suggest that this area could have been an important settlement or even a city. However, specialized archaeological studies in this area have not yet been conducted,” she noted.

Currently, the village of Eshme has more than a hundred households, and local residents mainly engage in livestock breeding and agriculture.
