On February 12, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, held a meeting with Zou Jiaqi, head of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

During the meeting, the prospects for implementing large-scale joint projects aimed at the industrialization of Kyrgyzstan, improving transport and logistics connections, and strengthening the country's transit potential were discussed. The conversation also covered support for key initiatives in agriculture and energy.

The President noted that Kyrgyzstan views industrialization as one of the main directions of its development and strengthening its position in the global economy.

He emphasized the need to develop industries with high added value and modernize the manufacturing sector, calling on the AIIB for active cooperation in this area.

Sadyr Japarov also highlighted the importance of developing transport infrastructure, pointing to the strategic goal of turning Kyrgyzstan into a regional logistics hub. The implementation of infrastructure projects, he said, would enhance the country's competitiveness and create new opportunities for economic growth.

One of the priority tasks, as the president noted, is to eliminate the electricity deficit. He shared plans to increase generation, modernize energy infrastructure, and improve energy efficiency.

Sadyr Japarov emphasized the strategic importance of major energy projects for Kyrgyzstan.

Additionally, he highlighted the significance of investments in road infrastructure aimed at improving transport accessibility and regional development, proposing that the AIIB expand its partnership on key projects.

The President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Zou Jiaqi, in turn, noted that Kyrgyzstan is one of the main strategic partners of the bank, emphasizing that the republic is among the founding countries of the AIIB.

She highly appreciated the country's economic policy and noted the stable rates of socio-economic development.

Zou Jiaqi confirmed the AIIB's readiness to continue financing current projects and support new initiatives that align with Kyrgyzstan's priorities. She emphasized the importance of joint efforts to develop infrastructure, improve transport and logistics connections, and support the private sector.

Particular attention at the meeting was given to the project for the construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1. The head of the AIIB underscored its significance for the country's energy security and expressed the bank's readiness to consider participating in its financing.

She also announced the readiness to explore opportunities to support the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, awaiting specific proposals from the Kyrgyz side for further elaboration.

In conclusion of the meeting, Zou Jiaqi noted that the AIIB will continue to consider financial mechanisms that contribute to the development of Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of priority projects.
