
In Kyrgyzstan, President Sadyr Japarov met with Zou Jiayi, the head of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
During the meeting, joint projects aimed at the industrialization of the country, development of transport logistics, and strengthening transit potential were discussed, as well as support for key initiatives in the energy and agricultural sectors.
The president emphasized that industrialization is a key direction for enhancing Kyrgyzstan's competitiveness on the international stage. He highlighted the need to develop high value-added industries and modernize the manufacturing sector, inviting the AIIB to collaborate in these areas.
Sadyr Japarov also underscored the importance of improving transport infrastructure and logistics, stating his desire to turn Kyrgyzstan into a regional hub. He noted that the successful implementation of infrastructure projects in this area could increase the country's competitiveness and create new economic opportunities.
Furthermore, the president pointed out the critical task of eliminating the electricity deficit. He outlined plans to increase generation, modernize energy infrastructure, and enhance energy efficiency, emphasizing the strategic importance of large projects in this area for the country.
Japarov also noted the necessity of investments in road infrastructure to improve transport accessibility and develop regions, urging the AIIB to deepen partnerships on key projects.
For her part, Zou Jiayi noted that Kyrgyzstan occupies an important place among the AIIB's strategic partners and is one of the founding countries of the bank. She highly appreciated the economic policy being pursued in the republic and noted the positive dynamics in socio-economic development.
The head of the AIIB confirmed the bank's readiness to continue financing existing projects and support new initiatives that align with Kyrgyzstan's priorities. She emphasized collaboration in infrastructure, transport logistics, trade and investment, as well as support for the private sector.
During the discussion, the project for the construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 was highlighted, which, according to Zou Jiayi, plays an important role in ensuring the country's energy security. The bank expressed its readiness to consider opportunities for participating in its financing.
Additionally, Zou Jiayi reported on the readiness to explore possibilities for supporting the railway project connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, awaiting specific proposals from the Kyrgyz side for further discussion. In conclusion, she added that the AIIB intends to continue exploring financial mechanisms and instruments that contribute to the development of Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of priority projects.
