According to Fariza Soltogulova, the chief specialist of the Department of School, Extracurricular, and Additional Education of the Ministry of Education, the academic year consists of 34 weeks and includes 30 calendar days of vacation. This academic year, the vacation schedule has been approved in accordance with these norms and in line with the new Labor Code.

Parents initiated an extension of the spring break duration. However, it is necessary to consider that this would reduce the number of school days, which could affect teachers' salaries.
“As a result, we decided to extend the break by four days, which will now be from May 25 to May 29. This decision allowed us to maintain teachers' salaries. Thus, we took into account parents' requests while simultaneously protecting teachers' rights,” Soltogulova clarified.

Soltogulova explained that this year the spring break was rescheduled to avoid coinciding with the celebration of Nowruz. During the spring break, students were supposed to rest for three days - March 6, 7, and 8, as well as one day in March for Orozo Ait and Nowruz, which would total five days. However, the scattered distribution of these days caused dissatisfaction in society.
“Many parents reminded us that children traditionally rest on March 21, the day of the Nowruz celebration. Due to the introduction of additional breaks in May, the spring break was slightly shifted so that the rest periods do not fall too close to each other,” she added.

In total, 30 days of vacation are provided, including working and non-working days.
Despite the increase in the duration of breaks, the duration of study remains the same - 34 weeks,” she emphasized.

Psychologist Aizhamal Isamidinova shared her thoughts with the Kabar agency on the importance of additional breaks for schoolchildren.
She noted that extended breaks serve not only as additional motivation but also as a necessary resource for recovery after a stressful academic period. Short breaks often do not allow children to rest fully, which can negatively affect their interest in studies and overall emotional state.
“Extending breaks creates conditions for family communication and active rest, which is extremely important for children's psycho-emotional development. Additional days help reduce anxiety and stress levels among schoolchildren, strengthen their emotional health, and improve concentration upon returning to studies,” the specialist concluded.
