On March 26, a meeting took place in Moscow between the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev and Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the parliament's press service.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the development of bilateral relations and the possibilities for deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Matviyenko noted that Mamataliev's visit to Russia as a speaker underscores the mutual intention to strengthen ties between the states.

“Your first visit as a speaker to our country speaks of our common desire to develop intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary relations,” she said.

She also emphasized that active cooperation at the highest level contributes to the positive development of Kyrgyz-Russian relations. In particular, Vladimir Putin's visit to Bishkek led to an elevation of the partnership status to that of an enhanced alliance.

Matviyenko highlighted the significance of parliamentary interaction and the support provided by the heads of state.

“We hope for new ideas and more targeted cooperation that will contribute to the development of bilateral relations,” the chairwoman added.

She also drew attention to economic cooperation, emphasizing the need to synchronize legislation to create a comfortable business environment.

In response, Mamataliev expressed Kyrgyzstan's interest in strengthening strategic ties with Russia and developing a long-standing friendly partnership.

He noted the importance of active interaction both at the bilateral level and within relevant committees and international organizations.

Additionally, the speaker mentioned the results of the recent parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, noting the increase in the number of women deputies: out of 90 deputies, 31 are women.

He emphasized the importance of developing trade, economic, and investment relations, reminding of the goal set by the heads of state to increase trade turnover to 5 billion dollars. Mamataliev also pointed out the significant potential in areas such as energy, agriculture, tourism, and transport.

Important issues of labor migration were discussed, where problems faced by Kyrgyz citizens in Russia were identified, and solutions were proposed that take into account the allied relations between the two countries.
