In winter, riding on tubes, also known as "vatrushki," and on inflatable rings becomes an extremely popular pastime. However, medical professionals from the Republican Center for Health Promotion warn that such activities can be risky if basic safety rules are ignored.
Experts highlight several potential dangers. Tubes can reach high speeds and lack brakes, making them difficult to control. Additionally, riding near roadways, trees, or large groups of people increases the risk of collisions. Homemade inflatable rings, such as car tires, are particularly dangerous as they are not designed for such activities. Children often ride without adult supervision.
To minimize the likelihood of injuries, medical professionals recommend the following:
- only ride on specially designated and safe slopes;
- avoid riding while standing and do not use a tube for two people unless it is designed for that;
- constantly supervise children;
- explain the rules of safe behavior on the slope to children beforehand.
