During a recent meeting between the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanbek Dosmambetov and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in the country, Alexandra Solovyova, the main priorities regarding the development of the healthcare system until 2030 were discussed.

According to the Ministry of Health, emphasis was placed on key aspects such as strengthening the institutional structure of healthcare, developing human capital, digitizing medical services, and enhancing the resilience of the entire system.

One of the important issues raised at the meeting was the improvement of procurement mechanisms for medicines and medical devices through the UN platform. Plans for further cooperation with UNDP were discussed, particularly in the area of centralized procurement aimed at ensuring the availability of quality medications at reasonable prices and improving the transparency of procurement procedures. Meeting participants noted progress in implementing previously reached agreements, as well as in preparing lists of necessary medications and medical devices.

Kanbek Dosmambetov expressed gratitude to UNDP for their contribution to the fight against tuberculosis and support for reforms in the healthcare system, emphasizing that international procurement mechanisms play a key role in the effective use of budget funds.

Additionally, issues related to the transitional phase of implementing the Global Fund grant aimed at combating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria were discussed at the meeting. The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic is considered the main recipient of the new grant in the next cycle, which implies the need for a gradual transition of functions and strengthening national management capacities. Special attention was paid to preparing an application for the new grant and ensuring the sustainability of existing programs so that vulnerable groups can continue to access diagnostics and treatment.

As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further expand the partnership aimed at creating a modern, sustainable, and effective healthcare system in the Kyrgyz Republic.
