The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and UNDP discussed partnership and the development of international procurement mechanisms

On February 19, 2026, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanibek Dosmambetov, met with Alexandra Solovyova, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in the country.

During the meeting, the representatives of the ministry discussed important areas for future cooperation, emphasizing the priorities for the development of the healthcare system until 2030. In particular, special attention was given to strengthening the institutional foundations of healthcare, improving the qualifications of medical personnel, digitalizing medical services, and enhancing the resilience of the national healthcare system.

A key issue of discussion was the improvement of mechanisms for the procurement of medicines and medical devices through the UN system. Steps were also outlined for cooperation with UNDP in the area of centralized procurement, which should ensure access to quality medications at reasonable prices and increase the efficiency and transparency of procurement processes.
