
As of today, there are 2167 maternity beds, 741 beds for gynecological diseases, and 521 beds designated for the treatment of pregnancy pathologies functioning in Kyrgyzstan. This information was announced at a meeting with the Minister of Health, Damirbek Osmonov, where the results of the perinatal service's work in 2025 and plans for the future until 2030 were discussed.
The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that perinatal care is organized in the country according to a three-level system, ensuring continuity and consistency in the provision of medical assistance. The National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the Kyrgyz Scientific Center for Human Reproduction, and the maternity hospital of the Osh Interregional Hospital provide highly specialized support.
The coverage of pregnant women with prenatal care remains at a high level of 91.7%. In addition, infrastructure is actively developing: new perinatal centers are being built in the Talas and Osh regions, significantly simplifying access to specialized care for women from these areas.
Among the main priorities for the development of the perinatal service until 2030 are the following directions:
- Optimization of obstetric and gynecological care with an emphasis on preventive measures;
- Improvement of the monitoring system for pregnant women and patient routing;
- Revision of antenatal care standards with a focus on the quality of medical assistance;
- Implementation of modern prenatal screening technologies;
- Creation of a genetic laboratory;
- Development of family planning programs and pre-pregnancy preparation for women;
- Introduction of remote consultations for hospitals in the regions;
- Strengthening the material and technical base of obstetric, gynecological, and neonatal services.
The key goals remain the improvement of care quality for mothers and newborns, as well as the reduction of mortality rates.
