According to the report, the number of people in Gaza with access to food has significantly increased. Humanitarian organizations provide more than 1.5 million hot meals daily, continue to deliver food packages, and ensure access to clean water for more communities. Some medical facilities have also resumed their operations.
However, the situation remains extremely serious: 1.6 million people, which is over 75% of the population, are facing acute food shortages. Virtually the entire enclave is in a state of emergency. It is projected that by mid-October 2026, around 101,000 children aged six months to five years will suffer from acute malnutrition, including more than 31,000 cases with severe consequences.
Guterres noted that the achieved results remain "dangerously fragile." More than half of the agricultural land in Gaza is inaccessible, hostilities continue, and the number of civilian casualties is rising.
The Secretary-General called for a sustainable ceasefire, the opening of additional crossing points, the lifting of restrictions on the import of essential goods, and ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian aid.
