Amid fuel shortages in Russia, Mongolia is seeking new sources to meet its import needs.

Local residents express dissatisfaction with dependence on a single fuel supplier and demand that the government seek alternative sources.

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Damdinyam Gongor announced plans to import 418 tankers of AI-92 gasoline from China in December, using rail transport.

It is worth noting that Chinese AI-92 meets Euro-5 standards, which may lead to a higher price compared to its Russian counterpart.

Chinese gasoline, especially the AI-92 model (analogous to Euro-5/China V standards and even stricter China VI standards), is distinguished by its high quality, low sulfur content, and low pollutants, making it more environmentally friendly and efficient compared to outdated fuel types that meet EU Euro-5/6 standards. Although AI-92 has a lower octane rating compared to AI-95, it is better suited for modern engines.
