The British police have begun providing their officers with hijabs equipped with a magnetic zipper closure to prevent them from slipping off, reports Kazinform.
This initiative aims to reduce the risk of strangulation in case the hijab is pulled during a conflict.
According to The National, the introduction of the magnetic hijab is seen as a step towards increasing the number of Muslim women in the police force.
"All police officers in Leicestershire eligible for this hijab have already received it, and other police departments are also starting to place orders," the statement noted.
It is planned that such hijabs will also be available for other emergency services, including paramedics and medical personnel," added the department representatives.
