According to an internal document that has come into the possession of the television channel, consular staff are required to deny visa issuance under existing laws until the procedures for vetting applicants are reviewed. Among the countries affected by the new restrictions are Russia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, Yemen, and others. A complete list of countries has not yet been published.
Fox News also reports that this suspension will take effect on January 21 and will continue indefinitely until the Department of State completes its reassessment of visa procedures.
