Two high-speed trains derailed in Spain

A serious accident occurred in the Spanish province of Córdoba: two high-speed trains derailed, as reported by the railway infrastructure operator Adif on Sunday.

According to RTVE, 21 people have died as a result of the incident, and around a hundred have been injured.

Preliminary data indicates that the accident happened around 19:40 (21:40 Moscow time), when one of the trains traveling on the "Málaga — Madrid" route with 317 passengers on board derailed and moved onto an adjacent track. At that time, another train heading from Madrid to Huelva was on that track, which also lost stability.

"At the moment, at least 21 deaths have been recorded, as well as around 100 injured, among whom 25 people are in serious condition," emergency service representatives reported about the incident in the settlement of Adamus.

Rescue services continue to work at the scene, and information about the injured is still being clarified. High-speed train services between Madrid and Andalusia have been temporarily suspended.
