In Mongolia, the German model of agricultural cooperatives "Genossenschaft" is being implemented, aimed at improving the economic and market competitiveness of its participants.
The cooperative "Uilgan," located in the Tsagaan-Uur somon of the Khövsgöl aimag, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the "Untere Spreewald" cooperative from Brandenburg, Germany. Similarly, the "Shosooloshton" cooperative from Darkhan-Uul has entered into an agreement with the "Grossmar" cooperative. These memorandums include a mutual commitment to implement a training program for young specialists in agriculture in Germany. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.
Additionally, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry announced the achievement of an agreement to implement a training program for young specialists in this field.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Badamsuren Myagmarsuren, signed the memorandums during the Berlin Conference of Agriculture Ministers 2026 and the 18th Global Forum on Food and Agriculture, which took place from January 16 to 18, 2026, in Berlin, Germany. During his visit, he also attended the "International Green Week," an exhibition dedicated to sustainable development in the food and agriculture sectors.

During the events, meetings were held with the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Brandenburg, Hanka Mittelstädt, and the Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Saxony, Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch. During these meetings, the parties agreed on cooperation to identify potential joint projects in the fields of food and agriculture, as well as to improve the legal framework of Mongolia's agricultural sector and implement the German "Genossenschaft" model to enhance the competitiveness of participants.
The forum and discussions gathered more than 80 ministers and representatives of international organizations, aiming to address issues of global food security, climate change, water resource management, and sustainable agricultural policy. Participants unanimously emphasized the need to implement modern technologies in agriculture to ensure food security, sustainable production, and environmental protection.
Genossenschaft is an association of individuals or legal entities seeking to generate income from joint economic activities or to develop their members economically and socially. The principles of this cooperative are based on the concept of "Hilfe durch Selbsthilfe" ("help through self-help"). Cooperative associations are particularly effective when achieving economic goals exceeds the capabilities of individual participants, while ensuring their independence. Unlike corporations, cooperatives operate in the interests of their members and are not dependent on external investors, while remaining legal entities under private law.
