The famous Tokyo Skytree tower in Tokyo has been urgently suspended due to an incident involving an elevator. 20 people were trapped in one of the elevators for nearly six hours. The managing company of the facility announced this through an official statement.
According to information provided by the operators, two of the four elevators unexpectedly stopped on the evening of February 22. One elevator was empty, while the second, which was stuck at a height of about 30 meters, contained visitors. The rescue operation lasted approximately 5.5 hours, after which all individuals were evacuated; fortunately, no one was injured.
Additionally, the incident affected other visitors: about 1200 people on the observation deck at a height of 350 meters were unable to descend for three hours while waiting for the elevators to resume operation.
According to the company, the tower will be closed on February 23 for a complete technical inspection. Those who booked tickets in advance will be offered a refund.
