A major oil refinery in Bahrain caught fire. The state company Bapco declared force majeure after the attack

In connection with the incident, as reported by The Times of Israel, the company Bapco declared a force majeure situation, which allows it to suspend supplies. In an official statement, Bapco mentioned that the company's operations have been affected by ongoing conflicts in the region, as well as a recent attack on the oil refining complex. Nevertheless, company representatives assure that domestic demand will be met.

According to local news agencies, no one was injured as a result of the fire; however, information about the extent of the damage is currently being clarified. Experts link the cause of the fire to another strike from Iran.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began military actions against Iran, which were followed by strikes from Iranian forces on various targets in Middle Eastern countries, including American military bases and energy-related infrastructure. These attacks, along with Iran's threats to close the Strait of Hormuz, critical for oil transportation, contributed to a sharp rise in energy resource prices. On March 9, the price of a barrel of oil reached nearly $120 in Asian markets — the highest since 2022.
