Vladimir Zelensky announced that the trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, which were supposed to take place this week, have been postponed at the request of the United States.
“At the moment, the main efforts and attention are focused on the situation in Iran,” the President of Ukraine noted in his Telegram channel.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is open to holding a meeting at any time, in any format that could facilitate a realistic conclusion to the war.
He also added that “the Russian side is trying to exploit the situation in the Middle East,” seeking to turn the actions of the Iranian regime against its neighbors and American bases into something akin to a second front in Russia's war against Ukraine and the West as a whole. “Such a development is unacceptable,” the president stated.
Update: According to TASS, the trilateral meeting will not take place this week.
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States have held several rounds of trilateral negotiations. In January and early February, delegations met in Abu Dhabi, then in mid-February, negotiations took place in Geneva. The next round was supposed to occur in early March in Abu Dhabi, but after the onset of the conflict between the US and Israel with Iran, Zelensky stated that the meeting was postponed, but not canceled.
