The incident occurred on March 13 at around 08:00 local time in the Kalalangabo area of the Kigoma-Ujiji district. According to official representatives, these six individuals were part of a group of 18 medical workers who were heading to the village of Kagunga for vaccination on a district-owned vessel.
The commander of the fire service and rescue operations in the Kigoma district, Michael Maganga, confirmed the information about the incident and reported that nine people were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at the Kigoma district hospital. The search for the remaining individuals is ongoing.
