As a result of heavy rains that began on March 27, the state of emergency affected not only the capital of the republic, Grozny, but also Argun, as well as several districts: Gudermessky, Nozhai-Yurtovsky, Shali, Urus-Martan, Kurchaloyevsky, Vedensky, Itum-Kalinsky, Sharoisky, and Shatoi.
The rains caused a sharp rise in water levels in rivers and mudslides. Particularly severe consequences are observed in Dagestan, where more than 50 millimeters of precipitation fell in Makhachkala in just one day, marking a record high for the last 100 years. A state of emergency has also been declared in this city.
Due to the flooding in Dagestan, over 320,000 people were left without electricity, and 1,100 people were evacuated. According to preliminary data, more than 1,800 houses and household plots in 18 settlements were affected.
