In Thailand, a boat collided with a fishing vessel: tourists from the Kyrgyz Republic were on board

A tragedy occurred in southern Thailand when a speedboat carrying Russian tourists collided with a fishing vessel, resulting in one death.

According to preliminary data, there were 33 citizens of Russia on board the boat, as well as tourists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries. As a result of the collision, a Russian woman born in 2008 tragically lost her life. Additionally, 23 Russians sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized in several medical facilities in Phuket for assistance, as reported by the Russian consul general in Thailand, Yegor Ivanov.

The incident occurred on January 11, when the Korawich Marine 888 boat collided with the fishing trawler Pichai Samut 1 near the island of Koh Kai, located close to Phuket. The impact was so severe that the front of the boat was destroyed, and 52 tourists and 3 crew members fell into the water.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has not yet provided comments or confirmed information about the injured citizens of the country.
