
An explosion occurred in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, near a Shia mosque, resulting in at least 31 deaths and dozens of injuries. This tragic incident took place on February 6 during Friday prayers, according to international news agencies.
Reports indicate that the explosion occurred in the Tarlai Kalan area. Authorities are considering the possibility of a suicide bombing. Preliminary investigations have established that the suspect was stopped at the entrance to the mosque, after which the explosive device detonated.
At the time of the explosion, hundreds of worshippers were inside the mosque. The injured were immediately transported to hospitals in the capital, and among them are those in critical condition.
Authorities do not rule out that the death toll may rise.
So far, no terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces have cordoned off the area of the incident, and an investigation is currently underway with heightened security measures.
