Tajikistan border guards neutralized an attack from Afghanistan

On December 23, at 23:30, an attack occurred on border post No. 5 "Bogh" of the Border Service Unit 0341 "Sarchashma" in Shamsiddin Shohin, as reported by Tajikistan's border guards. The agency's statement clarified that the attack was carried out by three members of a terrorist group intending to assault the guarded facility.

The next day, December 24, at 11:15, Tajik border guards located the attackers. However, the terrorists refused to comply with demands to surrender and opened fire. As a result of the operation, all three attackers were neutralized.

A significant amount of weapons was seized from the scene of the incident: three M-16 rifles, an AK-47 assault rifle, three pistols with silencers, ten hand grenades, a night vision binocular, explosives, and other military equipment, the Border Service reported.

Unfortunately, during the clash, two border officers were killed: Zirekhbon Navruzbekov and Ismatullo Kurbonov. The agency noted that this is already the third case in the last month where terrorists have attacked Tajik border guards, and such actions lead to casualties among civilians and military personnel.

The Border Service of Tajikistan emphasized that these attacks indicate the Taliban government's inability to fulfill its international obligations to ensure security at the border. In this regard, the agency expressed hope for an apology from the Taliban government to the people of Tajikistan and called for effective measures to stabilize the situation.

Currently, the situation at the border remains calm, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is worth noting that as a result of two previous attacks on November 26 and 30, five Chinese citizens were killed, and five others were injured. These attacks targeted a mining company base and a construction organization in border areas.

Tajikistan condemned these attacks and demanded the Taliban arrest their organizers. In response, the Taliban's Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the attacks were initiated by groups seeking to destabilize the situation in the region.

Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon condemned these acts of violence and instructed law enforcement agencies to take necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
