The clash occurred at border post No. 5 "Sad" in the Shamsiddin Shohin area. On the evening of December 23, at 11:30 PM, three terrorists crossed the border, and their location was established by 11:15 the next day. When the border guards attempted to detain the violators, they responded with armed resistance.
According to the State National Security Committee (GKNB), the terrorists planned to attack one of the posts of the Tajik Border Troops. As a result of return fire, all three militants were eliminated.
At the scene of the incident, three M-16 rifles, one Kalashnikov assault rifle, three pistols with silencers, and ten hand grenades were seized. Night vision scopes, explosives, and ammunition were also found with the terrorists.
As a result of the operation aimed at preventing a terrorist attack, two Tajik servicemen — Zirekhbon Navruzbekov and Ismatullo Kurbanov — were killed. The border troops expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased.
It is noteworthy that this is already the third case of an attack by militants in the past month, resulting in injuries to civilians or military personnel.
Representatives of the Border Troops of the GKNB stated that such incidents highlight the incompetence of the Taliban government in ensuring security on the border with Tajikistan and fulfilling international obligations in the fight against terrorism.
The agency also expressed hope that the leadership of the "Taliban" would issue an official apology to the Tajik people and take measures to improve the situation on the border.
Currently, the situation on the border is considered stable, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
