According to the border guards, on December 23 at 11:30 PM, three members of a terrorist group illegally crossed the border of Tajikistan in the area of border post No. 5 "Bog", which belongs to the border detachment 0341 "Sarchashma" and is located in Shamsiddin Shohin.
During operational actions conducted on December 24 at 11:15 AM, the location of the violators was established on the territory of Tajikistan. The border guards reported that the terrorists ignored demands to surrender and began armed resistance, intending to attack one of the border posts.
As a result of the combat operation, all three were neutralized. From the scene, three M-16 automatic rifles, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, three foreign-made pistols with silencers, ten grenades, explosives, binoculars, and ammunition were seized.
Unfortunately, during the clash, two servicemen of the Border Troops were killed — Zirekhbon Navruzbekov and Ismatullo Kurbonov.
The official statement emphasizes that this is already the third case of armed attack from the territory of Afghanistan in the last month, resulting in casualties among both civilians and military personnel.
The Tajik side expressed concern regarding the Taliban government's failure to comply with international obligations to ensure security at the border and combat terrorist groups. The border troops hope that the leadership of the movement will apologize to the people of Tajikistan and take additional measures to strengthen stability.
“At the moment, the situation on the Tajik-Afghan border remains calm,” the agency added.
