Kazakh law enforcement agencies, with the support of the transport prosecutor's office, successfully halted channels for the illegal export of valuable bioresources. A group of criminals organized the export of Artemia cysts, using the territories of North Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions as processing and storage sites.
During the investigation, it was established that the participants in the criminal scheme falsified information about the origin of the goods. In the documents, they indicated that the products were allegedly produced in Kyrgyzstan, which allowed them to bypass customs checks.
The investigation revealed that 88 tons of this strategically important resource were exported across the border, causing damage to the state of more than 142 million tenge. Currently, the suspects have fully compensated for the damage caused. The criminal case has already been forwarded to the judicial authorities for a final decision.
Experts emphasize that Artemia cysts play a key role in aquaculture. Their illegal extraction not only deprives the budget of tax revenues but also creates serious problems for the ecosystems of saline lakes.
