In the Chuy region, in the Issyk-Ata district, 226 hectares of land plots have been returned to state control, as reported by the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic. These lands were illegally removed from municipal ownership between 1992 and 1994 and have been used by some local residents for a long time.
Moreover, it was revealed that a number of local officials had been allocating plots for agriculture to individuals without following the necessary procedures for a long time. As a result, the state did not receive rental payments, and issues regarding the accounting of unregistered lands in municipal or state ownership were not addressed.
The return of these lands to the "State Fund for Agricultural Lands" will create an opportunity to increase the area of agricultural land, which will positively affect the level of food security in the region.
