The land plots were illegally transferred from municipal ownership over 20 years ago
In the Chuy region, in the Issyk-Ata district, 226 hectares of land have been returned to state ownership, as reported by the press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
According to the agency, these land plots were illegally removed from municipal ownership between 1992 and 1994 and have been used by several local residents throughout this time. Additionally, some local government officials have unlawfully allocated plots for agricultural use for an extended period without following the necessary procedures.
“It was established that rental payments were not being deposited into the state treasury. Throughout this time, no work was done to account for unregistered land in municipal or state ownership. The return of these plots to the 'State Fund for Agricultural Lands' will allow for an increase in the areas cultivated by local residents, which, in turn, will enhance the level of food security in the region,” the statement said.
