Dayirbek Orunbekov, head of the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan, explained on his social media page the reasons for the appointment of Kanibek Dosmbetov, an employee of the GKNB, as the Minister of Health of the republic.
According to Orunbekov, Dosmbetov became the first Minister of Health in a long time without a medical education, coming from a different professional background. Previously, he held key positions in the anti-corruption service of the GKNB and recently headed the department in the Jalal-Abad region.

According to him, the appointment is related to the need for a deep transformation of the healthcare system, which faces internal conflicts, clan influences, and long-standing corruption ties. Therefore, the president chose a manager who has proven himself as an effective manager and a supporter of a strict anti-corruption policy.
The head of the president's press service also emphasized that issues of professional medical expertise will be under the control of the deputy ministers—experienced specialists in the field of medicine, while Dosmbetov will focus on structural reforms and establishing order.
Orunbekov added that the first results of the transformations in the healthcare sector can be expected soon.
