Temyr Khagurov, Vice-Rector of Kuban State University and Doctor of Sociological Sciences, spoke at the Kyrgyz-Russian expert discussion in Bishkek, where the topic "Modeling the Allied Relations 'Russia - Kyrgyzstan' and Expert Interaction" was discussed. In his speech, he emphasized the changing values among the youth, noting that they are increasingly focused on personal comfort.

According to Khagurov, data from annual monitoring of youth sentiments show that students' priorities have undergone significant changes. "Today, young people aged 17-25 care more about themselves. If previously the model of 'reasonable egoism' prevailed, where the main values were a stable career, family, and well-being, now interesting jobs, quality leisure, and health come to the forefront. At the same time, aspects such as starting a family or raising children are becoming less significant. The desire to serve the country and contribute to its development is losing popularity, which indicates a shift in value orientations," he noted.

Khagurov also added that about 25% of young people express complete indifference to the interests of the state, while around 40% consider them important, but the real situation may be even more discouraging due to the pressure of social desirability.

The expert is particularly concerned about the youth's attitude towards heroes.

"Every year, the number of those who say, 'I don't need heroes, I am my own hero' increases. In recent surveys, more than 30% of participants responded this way, which is a direct reflection of the growing egocentrism," he emphasizes.

In Khagurov's opinion, this position creates a perception of the state as a service that must provide comfortable conditions for self-realization. In this context, responsibility and the desire to serve society lose their significance.

The expert believes that the predominance of consumer culture and the role of social networks and influencers in educating youth contribute to this.

"It is impossible to force young people to love their country. True love is formed through the cultural environment. The books, films, and music we consume are important. Art can be 'right' or 'wrong': the right kind forms a responsible and hardworking personality that strives to think not only of themselves, while the wrong kind fosters egotism and a cult of consumption," he concluded.

Ultimately, Khagurov emphasized that to form sustainable value orientations, it is necessary to systematically collect and promote quality cultural content, including books, films, music, and educational projects that contribute to raising a generation focused not only on personal success but also on responsibility to society.
