The Deputy Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Edil Baisalov, announced a new approach to assessing the quality of teaching activities and educational institutions at a republican meeting held on December 22.

He noted that traditionally, schools were evaluated based on students' achievements in competitions and olympiads. However, this approach does not always reflect the real quality of education.

“Recently, I visited a school in the Kochkor district, where I was shown achievements, citing several bright examples, including a graduate from 1995 who was admitted to Harvard, and some students who took prize places in olympiads. These examples are certainly indicators of success, but we have come to the conclusion that the true professionalism of teachers is manifested in their ability to work with a large number of students. One or two successful students cannot serve as a complete criterion, as their achievements may be influenced by family circumstances, genetics, and many other factors,” he added.

Baisalov emphasized that the quality of education should be assessed based on the knowledge of the weakest students, as well as the support received by children in difficult circumstances, who lack family support or resources. We are moving to a system where not only the final result matters, but also the overall progress of each student. The true mastery of teachers lies precisely in this,” he said.

In addition, Baisalov noted that the state will continue to elevate the status of teachers, including increasing salaries and investing in support for young specialists.
