The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has presented a new methodological guide dedicated to the prevention of violence against children. This was reported on the air of Birinchi Radio by Mirlan Aitkuluev, head of the department for investigating crimes against foreigners, human trafficking, and crimes against minors of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to Aitkuluev, the main factor in protecting children is a trusting relationship within the family. Parents, spending a lot of time with their children, can be the first to notice changes in their behavior and respond quickly.
As part of this program, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in collaboration with the Center for Democratic Process Research, has released a bilingual guide. The book contains:
- standards for preventing violence against children,
- recent changes in legislation,
- recommendations for communicating with children who have experienced violence,
- action algorithms for specialists working with such cases.
This publication will be useful for both employees of relevant agencies and parents. The book describes protective measures provided by law, as well as where to seek help in emergency situations.
In addition to preventive measures, technical security in educational institutions is being strengthened.
Surveillance cameras have already been installed in every school in Kyrgyzstan, and since January of this year, according to government directives, schools are being connected to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' command center. This allows for constant monitoring by both the administration and the police.
This system facilitates the quick identification of individuals with criminal backgrounds near schools, as well as prompt responses to mass fights and other threats. Investigative and operational groups begin to act immediately, which helps prevent conflicts and enhance the safety of students.
