The program, which has been in operation since 2007, was launched in accordance with a memorandum between the ministries of employment and labor of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Korea. It is extended every two years.
During two stages of testing for knowledge of the Korean language, 1,350 people passed the exam, of which 339 candidates successfully completed the test. As a result, 225 people signed employment contracts, and 232 Kyrgyz citizens, including 30 women, went abroad for work.
The majority of workers are employed in the food, chemical, and paper industries, as well as in factories producing plastic, rubber, and glass products. The average salary is 1,700 US dollars.
