Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, during a visit to key defense industry enterprises in the country, emphasized the importance of increasing the production of missiles and ammunition. This was reported by the KCNA agency, citing information from Interfax.

In his speech, Kim noted that it is necessary to ramp up the production of missiles and shells by 2026 to meet the "projected demand" from the missile and artillery units of the armed forces.

He also highlighted that to ensure this demand, the establishment of new defense enterprises should be planned. A final decision on this matter is expected at the upcoming IX Party Congress.

Additionally, Kim Jong Un signed projects for the modernization of leading defense manufacturers, which will be presented for consideration at the congress.

The congress, which will discuss the directions of North Korea's foreign policy, as well as positions on relations with the U.S. and South Korea, will take place in early 2026. This event will also define key aspects of defense and economic policy.
