The situation in Bishkek's supermarkets in the evening of December 30 shows a noticeable increase in the number of shoppers. Long lines have formed in the city's large stores, both in the sales areas and at the checkout counters, as residents actively purchase food for the New Year celebration.

The highest number of people can be seen in the meat departments, at the canned goods displays, as well as in the sections with drinks and sweets. The waiting time at the checkout lines ranges from 15 to 30 minutes. In some supermarkets, employees are working at an accelerated pace, opening additional cash registers for the convenience of customers.

Local residents emphasize that this situation occurs every year before the holidays. Many of them prefer to do their shopping at the last minute, which creates additional pressure on the retail outlets.
