In Bishkek, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev announced that sand will no longer be used to combat ice on city roads. This decision was made to improve the environmental situation and maintain the cleanliness of the capital, as sand, when mixed with snow, leads to street pollution.

“We strive not to pollute the city, so sand will no longer be scattered. Instead, we will use salt to combat ice,” he emphasized.

Additionally, the mayor previously responded to criticism from residents that arose on social media regarding insufficient road clearing after the recent snowfall. He noted that the snow removal service has its own methods of operation.
