The mayor shared plans for the decentralization of the heating system
At an off-site meeting of the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, announced the intention to abandon heating provided by the CHPP.
According to him, the city administration is moving towards the decentralization of the heating system, having identified eight locations in the city for the installation of new boilers. "If the experience proves successful, we will have the opportunity to disconnect the CHPP and will not have to modernize the underground heating networks," the mayor added.
For reference, the CHPP in Bishkek is an important link in energy supply, affecting not only the capital but also a number of neighboring countries in Central Asia. This station was put into operation in 1961.
On August 29, 2024, at an extraordinary session of the Bishkek City Kenesh, a decision was made to transfer the property complexes of the CHPP and "Bishkekteploset" to the jurisdiction of the city administration.
