In an interview with the "Kabar" agency, the mayor noted that the refusal to use sand is driven by the desire to maintain the ecological cleanliness of the city. He explained that mixing sand with snow leads to significant pollution of the road surface.
“We decided not to use sand to avoid pollution in the city. For effective melting of snow on the streets, we will only use salt,” added Junushaliev.
It is also worth noting that the mayor has already responded to citizens' criticism on social media regarding the cleanup after recent snowfalls. At that time, he explained that the street cleaning operations are carried out in accordance with established methods and standards.
