The Union of Writers called for a legal assessment of Zhapikeev's words about Aitmatov

The Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan has issued an official statement regarding the recent remarks made by Syimyk Zhapikeev concerning the works of Chingiz Aitmatov. These comments were made in an interview published by journalist Ernis Kyazov on his YouTube channel. This was reported to the editorial office of VB.KG by the press service of the Union.

In its address, the organization characterized the assessments directed at Aitmatov as inappropriate and unfounded. The Union of Writers condemned such opinions, emphasizing that they represent an attempt to diminish the significance of Kyrgyz literature and national moral values. In light of the public outcry, the Union also considers it necessary to conduct a legal assessment of Zhapikeev's statements in accordance with the law.

In the interview, Syimyk Zhapikeev expressed his criticism of Chingiz Aitmatov's works, claiming that the books of this world-class author lack spirituality and are unable to guide the reader on the path of hidayah. He also noted that Aitmatov's creativity does not contribute to inner growth, comparing his works to those of Rumi, Al-Biruni, and Jami, as well as to Bruce Lee's films, which he believes are more inspiring. Zhapikeev mentioned that he has not read the novel "Plakha," but believes that it lacks a deep plot and spiritual foundation.
