In Kyrgyzstan, there is a growing increase in funding allocated to support youth. Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev announced this data during a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with science, education, innovations, information technologies, culture, sports, and youth affairs.

According to Tagaev, while previously 4 million soms were allocated, the budget for youth policy now amounts to 50 million soms.

In addition, the ministry also supports youth initiatives through mechanisms of state social orders.

“Since 2023, we have started holding a competition among youth organizations. The best projects can receive funding of up to 1 million soms. In 2025, 11 initiatives were supported with a total of 10 million soms,” he added.

The Deputy Minister also reported that the concept of the youth movement of Kyrgyzstan has been introduced into the country's legislation, and its first kurultai took place in 2024. Currently, there are 86 representations of the youth movement operating in the country, and youth councils have been established at local government bodies. Tagaev emphasized that these representatives, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, initiate various events and implement numerous projects.

In his speech, he reminded about the adopted concept of youth policy for 2020-2030, which includes activities aimed at expanding opportunities for youth, increasing employment levels, enhancing the educational process, and overall development.

Every two years, a national study titled “Index of Well-Being and Development of Youth in Kyrgyzstan” is conducted. The last one was carried out in 2025, and the results were presented in January 2026.

Marat Tagaev also detailed to the deputies the competitions for youth, the projects in which young citizens of Kyrgyzstan participate at both national and international levels, and their contributions to various fields.

As of 2025, there are 2 million 519 thousand citizens aged 14 to 35 living in Kyrgyzstan.
