In the Kyrgyz Republic, the health month among men 'Be Responsible!' has started.

The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the start of the health month "Be Responsible!", aimed at identifying risk factors for non-communicable diseases in men over 18 years old. The main goal of the campaign is to increase the level of early diagnosis of chronic diseases and to motivate men to seek medical help at the first symptoms.

As part of this initiative, men are recommended to undergo preventive medical examinations at primary health care facilities, such as family medicine centers, family doctor groups, general practice centers, and feldsher-midwife stations located in their place of residence.

The results of previous campaigns confirm the high effectiveness of this approach. In 2022, over 973,000 men underwent preventive screening for non-communicable diseases, and 119,600 of them, which corresponds to about 12 percent, were found to have elevated blood pressure. Additionally, 49,600 men were identified as being at high risk for cardiovascular diseases, and nearly 60,800 were at high risk for diabetes.

According to statistics from 2025, 15,388 people were registered for the first time with a diagnosis of arterial hypertension, and 7,364 people were diagnosed with diabetes. In the same year, cardiovascular diseases were the cause of 16,644 deaths among the adult population of Kyrgyzstan.

The health month "Be Responsible!" has been implemented since 2019 as part of the project "Effective Management and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan," which is funded by Switzerland and is conducted annually by the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Non-communicable diseases, which include cardiovascular, oncological, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes, are chronic and can be prevented. The main risk factors include poor nutrition, smoking, alcohol abuse, and lack of physical activity.

The project "Effective Management and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan" is being implemented throughout the country and aims to improve the health of the population, ensure equal access to quality primary health care services, and promote healthy lifestyle principles.
